info
Our certified instructors are all comprehensively trained. This means that they didn't take modular training or the occasional weekend course. Each instructor underwent months' long contiguous training that included 600 hour apprenticeships as well as written and practical exams at 100, 300 and 400 hours. The culmination was an extensive test-out in teaching skills, special case knowledge, philosophy and applied anatomy at 600 hours.

Established at the end of 2007, Pilates of Vero has quickly become the area's leading source for classical Pilates. Our teachers committed to put themselves through the highest level of teacher training and now we bring those commitments and standards to our clients. If you're looking for real Pilates, welcome to Pilates of Vero!
Jayne McAllister, Owner/Certified Pilates Instructor
Originally from Lancashire, England, Jayne McAllister began her Pilates studies in 1998 with Marty Hammerstein, who was trained by Joseph Pilates' protegee, Romana Kryzanowska. Jayne gained Mat certifications from the PhysicalMind Institute in 2001 and Power Pilates in 2003. The following year, Jayne began Power Pilates' Comprehensive Teacher Training Program in New York City where she studied under Bob Liekens, Phoebe Higgins, Susan Moran and Dana Eisenstein Smythe.
Under the tutelage for Dr. Howard Sichel, Power Pilates' president and a chiropractic doctor, Jayne became qualified to work with back, neck and knee injuries, osteoporosis, hip replacements, scoliosis, as well as pre- and post-natal clients. Dr. Sichel remains a valuable resource to Pilates of Vero in an advisory capacity.
In 2004 Jayne was diagnosed with osteopenia at a particularly young age. Rejecting conventional medications, Jayne turned to Pilates to help increase her bone density. Within eight months she eliminated the disease from her left hip and radically increased the density of her lumbar spine. Jayne's passion is working with osteoporotic clients to help them increase their bone density.
In 2006, Jayne completed further intensive training with Amy Taylor Alpers and Mary Bischof of the prestigious Pilates Center of Boulder. In 2007, Jayne passed the Pilates Method Alliance's national certification exam. In 2009, Jayne became a Certified Mike Wright's Golf Pilates Apparatus Specialist.
Jayne has a B.A. and M.A. in Modern and Medieval Languages from Cambridge University, England. She has lived in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Caribbean and, since 1991, the USA.
Camilo Rodgriguez, Senior Instructor
Camilo began practicing Pilates as a client in 1997 and within two years entered the teacher training program in New York City with Romana Kryzanowska, Joseph Pilates' protegee. Camilo completed his apprenticeship under the guidance of Bob Liekens and Sari Mejia, as well as Romana. Once certified, Camilo co-owned his own studio in Norfolk, Virginia for two years, before returning to New York to join a dance company there. Camilo continued to teach Pilates at several renowned New York studios, including Ultimate Body Studio, Uptown Pilates, and Alycea Ungaro's Tribeca Bodyworks (now real Pilates).
Like many professional dancers, Camilo was introduced to Pilates as a complement to the rigors of daily dance practice and to avoid injury. As a teacher, Camilo sees the benefits of the work for much broader populations. "Pilates is a form of exercise that never goes out of style. Everyone is capable of doing it. From the dancer to the golfer to the lady who lunches, the goal of Pilates is to address posture and alignment."
As senior instructor, Camilo brings 17 years of movement experience to his Pilates instruction. Camilo has clients of all ages and fitness levels, and is gaining a reputation as the local "teacher of teachers" as he is sought out by instructors across the Treasure Coast. In his own words: "One can do Pilates with different intensities at different times in one's life. Lengthening muscles, loosening joints and articulating the body keeps us feeling and looking young. These are the reasons I love practicing and teaching Pilates."
Camilo grew up in Puerto Rico and left the island in 1994 to train at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City. His dance career took him to Brazil, Spain, Italy, France, Russia, Japan, Korea and the United Kingdom, performing with Eglevsky Ballet, Virginia Ballet Theatre, Mark Morris ("The Hard Nut"), Ballets Grandiva and, most recently, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo.
Camilo retired from the "Trocks" in late 2009 to settle in Vero Beach. It was only natural that he would find his Pilates home at the only classical, New York-style studio in town, Pilates of Vero.
